Hebron in one of the most ancient cities in the Levant and according to the Bible, Abraham settled there and used the Cave of the Patriarchs as a burial place for his wife Sarah. Tradition also holds that along with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, their wives Sarah, Rebecca and Leah, were also all buried in the cave.
The city is also recognized in the Bible as the place where God sent David to be anointed king of Israel.
